Back on the track, the Porsche Carrera Cup France enjoyed a spectacular opening round in Barcelona. In Catalonia, there were plenty of twists and turns, from qualifying all the way to the checkered flag in Race 2. Two-time series champion Marvin Klein (ABM) claimed victory in the first race of the year. The 2026 Junior Porsche Carrera Cup France champion, Macéo Capietto (Pierre Martinet by Alméras), opened his victory tally right from his debut in the series. The return of the Porsche Carrera Cup France was eagerly anticipated in Barcelona. New teams made their championship debuts, and drivers new to the series came to test their skills against the veterans of the Porsche 992 Cup.
Qualifying went in favor of a specialist. At the wheel of the ABM No. 74, Marvin Klein secured both pole positions. In Race 1, the pole-sitter got off to an excellent start, holding off his former teammate Paul Cauhaupé (Martinet by Alméras) behind him. Various incidents on the first lap forced the safety car onto the track. At the restart, Paul Cauhaupé lost his brakes at the end of the straight and ended up in the wall at Turn 1. Fortunately, the former PCCF Junior driver emerged unscathed from the accident. At the second restart, Marvin Klein pulled away. His former CLRT teammate, Florian Latorre, put on a show. The new 2B Autosport recruit started from sixth position and overtook his rivals lap after lap. In the pack, the battle was intense at every level. Macéo Capietto (Martinet by Alméras), followed by Enzo Joulié (Martinet by Alméras), Charles Roussanne (GP Racing Team), and Hugo Chevalier (Debard Automobiles by Racetivity) were fighting for the final spot on the podium. Marvin Klein crossed the finish line in first place, securing another victory for ABM in the Carrera Cup France. Florian Latorre initially finished second but was disqualified for a technical non-compliance. Having broken away from the pack in the final laps, Enzo Joulié moved up to second place. The Andorran secured his very first overall podium finish in the championship. In his debut, Charles Roussanne finished third.
Macéo Capietto came within a hair’s breadth of the podium. The 2026 Junior Porsche Carrera Cup France driver celebrated an inaugural victory in the Rookie standings. Portuguese driver Gonçalo Fernandes (LOB Motorsport) marked his debut in the series with a second-place finish. Malo Bolliet (Racing Technology) rounded out the podium in the category.
Held in cooler conditions, Race 2 saw a change in the lead right from the first braking point. Starting on the right side of the track, Macéo Capietto caught the pole-sitter, Marvin Klein, off guard. Once again, the race was interrupted several times by incidents, forcing the deployment of the safety car. Under pressure from the ABM driver, these breaks offered a respite to the Junior PCCF 2026. Right up to the finish, Macéo Capietto held on to add his name to the list of race winners in the Porsche Carrera Cup France. The Pierre Martinet by Alméras driver scored a double victory by also winning the rookies’ class. Marvin Klein secured valuable points with his second place. Florian Latorre secured the first overall podium finish in the history of 2B Autosport. Enzo Joulié and Charles Roussanne rounded out the top five. Starting last, Paul Cauhaupé fought his way up to eleventh place. The Toulouse native managed to make it onto the grid thanks to the massive effort of the Martinet by Alméras mechanics, who spent the night preparing his new car.
In the rookie class, behind Macéo Capietto, Malo Bolliet built on his strong performance from the previous day. Following in his teammate’s footsteps, Manuel Alves (LOB Motorsport) also secured a top-three finish in the category.
The Gentlemen drivers also delivered some nail-biting action. In Pro-Am, the first race was chaotic for the two main rivals of recent years. Neither Marc Guillot (ABM), the two-time defending champion, nor Jérôme Boullery (Racing Technology), the 2023 Pro-Am champion, saw the checkered flag. This paved the way for Louis Méric. The Debard Automobiles by Racetivity driver took the win ahead of Karl Vandewoestyne (2B Autosport). The very next day, Jérôme Boullery set the record straight. Having secured both pole positions in the category, the Nantes native is determined to reclaim his crown. His victory in Race 2 allowed him to kick off his season after his retirement the day before. Karl Vandewoestyne recorded another second-place finish. Marc Guillot finished third. Henry Hassid dominated the Am class. In his big comeback to the Porsche Carrera Cup France, the Pierre Martinet by Alméras driver won both races. Reigning champion Éric Debard (Debard Automobiles by Racetivity) now faces a serious challenger. The defending champion secured valuable points with a second-place finish in both races. Loïc Teire (GP Racing Team) returned to the podium, following his podium finish at Misano during his guest appearance last July. Frédéric Lacore (Racing Technology) stepped onto the podium for the first time in his PCCF career.
